NavKids
NavKids Ministry is the heartbeat of our NavFamily and one of the largest ministries in our church. Taking our cue from scripture we believe that “children are an inheritance of the Lord” (Psalm 127:3). We practice that belief by intentionally connecting with each age group at their level.
Just as Jesus called the little children toward him “let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Mark 10: 13-16). We too have the opportunity each week to kneel down and look these little ones in the eye. To meet their gaze with kindness, enthusiasm, interest, compassion, and love. To make a connection. And through that connection, to introduce them to Jesus and the stories in the bible on which we build our faith.
It’s also our privilege to keep the children in the classrooms so that their parents may attend service without wrangling or worrying about their little ones. It’s important for parents and caregivers to be able to receive ministry, to hear the Pastor’s message, and know that their children are being cared for, loved, and taught from the bible.
The BEST thing about serving in this area is that often the kids end up ministering to us too. They share their smiles, their drawings, their stories and their hugs! They ask thoughtful questions, they share with a friend, they remember the monthly bible verse. The “ministry” truly goes both ways! When we care for the little children, we invite Jesus into our midst. I can recall two moments from this past year that were so rewarding. The first was watching 2 of our grade school children watch as both of their parents were baptized. We then had an opportunity to talk about baptism and what that means and how special it was so witness mom and dad take this step in front of the whole church. There are so many “mini” moments like this. Another one that comes to mind was watching one of our more shy students be willing to recite scripture during our Christmas program. This may seem like a very small step, but for a child that prefers to stay out of the spotlight, it was such a huge milestone that her mom came up to me afterwards and asked how I got her to have the courage to take that step. I told the girl’s mother, it wasn’t me, it was her trust in Jesus! Perhaps your next step will be joining the NavKids Team and experiencing one of these powerfully, rewarding moments yourself.
To begin serving on the NavKids team there are a few requirements:
- You’ve gotta like kids! This ministry is not for everyone and that is OK
- You have to be background checked (its standard procedure)
- You need to be available to consistently serve one Sunday each month
- Find a time to “shadow” a teacher in the classroom of your choice
Classroom Teams
Weekly Opportunities
Our classroom teams as broken out below seek to incrementally take kids deeper in discussion topics as they grow. Each of these classroom teams offers a teacher role and aid/assistant role.
0-2 Classroom
Love on the littles ones! Newborns through age 2. The primary goal of this classroom is love and caring for physical needs (bottles, diapers, etc). Often it’s the only break mom and dad get in the course of a week. The curriculum is based on a theme for the entire month. For example, “Jesus Heals.”
2-3 Classroom
Keep the toddlers engaged and learning! The primary goal of this classroom is repetition of the same theme with different bible stories. For example, “Jesus makes sick people well” with a different healing story each week. There is play time, worship, storytime, craft time, and game time.
4-5 Classroom
Match and manage the preschoolers/ kindergartener’s energy & enthusiasm! The primary goal of this classroom is to build the theme by adding details. In the examples of “Jesus makes sick people well” we add more details to the story and begin asking questions of the kids to create a dialogue. The structure of each week includes playing/ centers, worship, bible story, Q&A, and a game, craft, or coloring sheet.
1st-4th Grade Classroom
Engage, teach, and CONNECT with our grade school students! The primary goal of this classroom is expanding on their bible story knowledge, but also providing a space for asking questions and sharing about their lives. The weekly curriculum takes the theme deeper and adds memory verses as well as small group discussion time. Classroom structure includes playing at “stations,” worship, teaching, small group discussion, and a game or free play. Allowing ample time for PLAY is equally as important as teaching the weekly lesson.
5th-6th Grade Classroom
Capture their interest and guide the discussions for our middle schoolers! The primary goal of this classroom is to provide a safe/sacred space not only for teaching biblical principles, but also for answering difficult questions and helping address the challenges that this age group faces in their schools, activities, friendships and even families. The curriculum covers the same concepts, but aims to build depth, and allows even more time for conversation. This classroom also participates in worship with the main service. Structure is all about “growing them up.” There are no more games or free time, just worship, lessons, and plenty of discussion/ Q&A.
Hospitality/Check-in
Weekly Opportunities
The face of NavKids & our first impressions team!
The primary goal of this team is to greet all guests, partners, and new faces with a smile and warmth. This team facilitates the practical side of check-in; printing name tags answering any questions that may arise. When we have first time visitors checking in their children, this team (sometimes in conjunction with an usher) also provides a quick “tour” and “teacher intro” to the new family. An emphasis of this team is learning the names of our kiddos and their parents to build connection. Quick thinking and troubleshooting is often required as well as some technical/computer ability. This team still gets to attend service.

NavStudents
If you want to help shape the future, shape the next generation. NavStudents gives you that exact opportunity week after week. Today’s culture is fighting like never before to shape the identities of our youth. We at NavStudents believe their future is worth fighting for. We believe they are worth fighting for. And so we do. And perhaps you want to be a part of this with us.
Every week we gather students together for fun games and conversations of faith that lead to small group conversations along with one-on-one mentorships. You can join us in meeting students where they are at and partnering with parents to lead them to where they are going by first leading them into their own personal relationship with Jesus.
And what’s more rewarding than hearing a student say something like this: “Thank you for praying with me…Thank you for listening to me…Thank you for being there for me…Thank you for not giving up on me…” These are the moments we work hard for and these are the moments that are priceless. These moments embody why we do what we do. These moments make the “Yes, I want to serve students” become one of the best decisions of our life. And it can become one of your best decisions too.

Senior’s Ministry
God’s not done with you. Every person needs to hear that in life. But no group needs to hear it more clearly and more often than our adults 60 years and older. So much about life’s natural rhythm at this phase says slow down and do less because many chapters of life are done for them. But we at Navigation Church actually believe they are just getting started on one of life’s greatest chapters. But what does that chapter look like? We believe this chapter of life looks like those in our seniors ministry discovering the next step God has for them. Jesus still wants to speak to them, transform them, and use them. Again, God’s not done with them.
How can you play a part? We are looking for people to be bridge builders. We want people who can build bridges for our adults 60 years and older to discover their next step in connecting with Jesus and sharing Jesus through discussions, events, and outreaches.

Young Adults Ministry
The Young Adults Ministry provides, creates, and nourishes a space for young adults in and out of Navigation Church. But this community takes more than one person to flourish, it takes peers and mentors. Your experiences and God ordained stories are needed to cement young adults in Christ today so they can impact the future to come. Come build a community where we can laugh, pray, worship, and eat together. Life is Life, but Jesus showed us that as we walk together with Him we have the ability to shape the world and the people who live in it.

Spiritual Life
It was stated that, “Spiritual life quite simply is the life lived in and with God.” Everyday we take care of our physical needs to eat, be active, breathe, clean ourselves up, work, and live out our days. But do we apply the same life giving attention to our spiritual needs? It something we have to work at and what better way than with a community of other believers. Here are some areas where you can share your daily spiritual routine to help others who are struggling.
NavGroups
Weekly Opportunities
There is one thing that is crystal clear when you read the Bible after Jesus came and went…you consistently see Christians meeting with other Christians in home like settings. They say that people who pray together and play together will stay together. Imagine hosting a place where people can come when they are hurting and get support, ask questions and get direction, or even celebrate something great and get others to rejoice with them. NavGroups are a place where you see Jesus working in an up-close and personal way.
Guide

Growth Track
Weekly Opportunities
The Navigation Church Growth Track guides people to discover their redemptive purpose and live the life God created for them. It also introduces them to our church and provides the avenue for them to become a partner and find an area of service. Hosts are needed each week to guide the group through an established 4-week curriculum of teachings and workshops.
Prayer
Flexible Opportunities
Prayer is more than standing and talking, more than speaking for a specified amount of time, it is an activity you do to connect with God. Navigation Church’s prayer team is a place where you can serve the leadership, families, and individuals from a distance, or hands on, by praying for them and at times, praying for specific breakthroughs and/or healings.
Lead Intercessor
Builds, manages, and communicates to the prayer team both on a regular basis to equip and lead the team, as well as at specific times when prayer requests come in. They lead dedicated prayer meetings focused on areas of need in our community and nation.
Prayer Team
Intercessors who commit to pray for the leadership, families, and individuals connected to Navigation Church.
Baptism
Flexible Opportunities
Baptism is a critical step for any believer in Christ to take. It is a public declaration of the new spiritual life they’ve chosen and provides an historical event to remind them when their old ways were buried in a watery grave. For some, this time is exciting and for others cautionary. That’s why we need a team to create an inviting and encouraging environment that allows the whole church to celebrate this special day. There are few memories that you will never forget and being a part of someone’s water and spirit baptism will be one of them.
Setup and Teardown
Prior to the Sunday Service this team will set up the baptism tank, prepare the backstage room with appropriate resources and ensure all necessary equipment is in place for a safe and secure day. Post the Sunday morning service this team does all the cleaning up, tearing down and properly storing of all the materials in order for them to be ready for the next time there is a need.
Host
During the Sunday service this team will ensure that baptism candidates know where to go and provide clear instructions on what to do. This team also escorts candidates to and from the tank and supports them till they have completed their journey that Sunday.
Guide
Before the Sunday service this team connects one-on-one, or in a group, with the baptism candidates to ensure they have a biblical basis for why they are taking this step in their faith journey. This is a time to both talk practically as to what to expect, spiritual as to what this means, and to share with them about the baptism of the spirit.
Digital Link
We live in a digital age where people are always connected and church is more than a Sunday morning service. Through social media, websites, and online streaming platforms, both live and recorded, we can share Jesus’s message on-demand at the moment of need. It is more than a live stream for those unable to attend traditional worship services. We need to connect with our communities where they spend their time.
Social Media
Flexible Opportunities
Social media team members are typically responsible for setting content strategy and driving engagement on the church’s social platforms. To be successful they often need to possess a knack for storytelling, a keen eye for design, and an ability to analyze what does well with an audience—and what doesn’t.
Content Writers
Flexible Opportunities
A content writer produces website and social media copy, usually for informational and marketing purposes. Content writers are responsible for creating web copy that is clear, on brand, and relevant. To accomplish this, content writers must conduct research, employ an original approach to writing, and ensure that the copy they produce aligns with the church’s marketing and branding initiatives. Content writers also produce captivating headlines and body copy to engage readers on the church’s social media platforms.
Online Moderators
Weekly Opportunities
Online moderators host our live stream on Sunday mornings. They need to be able to listen actively, empathize, and respond appropriately to different situations and audiences. Online moderators need to communicate effectively with other members, as well as follow guidelines, policies, and feedback. They are responsible for controlling the flow of the online chat and post announcements when needed.
Information Technology
Flexible Opportunities
Keeping a digital world reliable and available takes a team of people to develop, configure, and maintain the systems and applications Navigation Church uses. We also train users on the various systems and platforms available and try to ensure people are working smarter, not harder. If you have a passion for technology and want an area to challenge your skills, then come help us help others reach their goals with technology.
Performing Arts
You want to hear a crazy idea? From the beginning of time God chose humanity to be his mouth piece and his hands and feet. And where Psalm 150:6 says “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord” we therein find the key purpose of our Performing Arts Ministry. We have the opportunity to use our mouth, hands, and feet to not only offer praise and worship to the Lord, but also lead others in this experience as well.
So what does this look like for our team? Through the distinct areas of audio and visual experiences we have the opportunity every week to present God and His presence in such a way that draws people in to experience freedom, hope, encouragement, healing, and so much more that only comes from a life surrendered in worship to Jesus.
But what part could you play? If you sing, play an instrument, act, or even dance, our worship team could be your next step and a great place for you to share your gift through our worship experience. Or if you prefer more behind the scenes such as audio mixing, lighting design, video production, or graphic designing, then our production team could be your next step and a great place for you to share your gift.
So take your next step and connect with a team committed to connecting others to Christ through worship.

Outreaches
Yearly Opportunities
Have you ever thrown a party for an entire city? I know this may sound exciting to some and scary to a few but trust me, this team has their stuff together and are looking for someone who wants to win the lost to Christ. Two times a year Navigation Church throws city wide parties to show the love of Jesus in a practical way. All the planning and pre-work leading up to these days are the engine that makes these events work. Imagine someone finding Jesus because of the direct work that you did to give them that opportunity.
Outreach Leads
These individuals take the policies and procedures from the previous outreaches to lead volunteers, coordinate with community leaders, and organize the yearly events.
Outreach Co-Leads
For each outreach there are co-leads, or coordinators, over various sub-event categories. There are appropriate procedure manuals for each area to provide the necessary tools to be successful.
- Bounce houses
- Egg hunts
- Preparing and serving food
- Working with vendors
- Registering participants
- Hosting contests
Outreach team members
These are large community events hosted by Navigation Church and as such, we need maximum participation. Approximately two months out from each event we start looking for volunteers to serve as “workers in the field”. Take advantage of these short term local mission projects to help serve our local community.
Pastoral Care
Flexible Opportunities
Who hasn’t faced some type of challenge in life? Who hasn’t felt that a little help would go a long way? NOW, what if you could play a role in helping in these situations? Our Pastoral Care team gives you that opportunity as it comes alongside partners who are facing life challenges and are in need of help and care.
At Navigation Church we love to love on people. We do this out of response to Matthew 25:40 when it says “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me!”
Year after year we have met people who were touched with things like loss of a family member, sickness, family crisis, financial needs, addiction, loss of a job, career changes and tragedy. And in meeting with them, we replaced their touch with challenges with the touch of Jesus’ compassion and love as we were able to encourage and care for them.
Do you feel like this team committed to the help and care of others is a place for you? Perhaps even a place for you to give back the care you received?

These front door ministries are a perfect place to share your enthusiasm and passion for connecting with people. Greeters and Ushers provide a smile with security all while the Barista’s are serving it up hot! Our Connection and Next Steps centers are there for connection to Navigation, Jesus and others. Ministry happens every Sunday in so many ways, not only blessing everyone who walks in the door but it touches you, the volunteer, on a deeper level because you get to serve others. Weekly and Flexible Opportunities
The primary goal of this team is to ensure Navigation Church takes advantage of every opportunity to love on people who are meeting us for the first time. We want an “inviting” culture and need a team looking at how to achieve that. Maybe we are a stop on someone’s journey but we could be their forever home. Whatever the case we need to remain focused to prevent our guests from stumbling.
Special Teams
Throughout any given calendar year at Navigation Church there are various events and activities that need special attention or teams to ensure their success. Some require professional skills and backgrounds while others need willing volunteers.

Décor
Flexible Opportunities
Do you know that guests make a decision if they will ever come back to a church within ten minutes of visiting? Most of the time it’s not the worship, nor the children’s ministry, not even the preaching that determines if someone will one day call Navigation their home. You know what will have them come back? A beautiful, maintained, welcoming environment. Come help us make every first impression a captivating one.
Committees and Special Projects
Flexible Opportunities
Keep your ears and eyes attentive to areas where you can use your God given professional and personal abilities to serve on special committees (ex. finance, building, conference, organizational management, marketing, etc) or as a project leader.
