This morning Pastor David expounds further in our summer teaching series, Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit, with a focus on peace. If you deal with worry or anxiety we believe today’s sermon can help you find true peace.
Scripture: Galatians 5:22-26
Discussion Topics:
- In Galatians the Greek word Eirene is used to define “peace” which means, in part, to have it all together. The three specific places that we will have it all together is a pure mind, a resolute will, and a glad heart. Take time to discuss these three areas and what each one means.
- The counterpart to peace is worry which means (verb) to give way to anxiety or unease; allow one’s mind to dwell on difficulty or troubles. The noun form of the word is a state of anxiety and uncertainty over actual or potential problems. Is there a place in your life that you worry? Please share it with the group so that you can expose the darkness to the light.
- Joyce Meyer was quoted as saying, “Worry is a down payment on a problem you may never have.” What is the benefit to worrying? Does it align with Matthew 6:25?
- Have you dealt with, or are you someone who deals with anxiety/worry? What is one thing you have done that helped you find true peace?
