Christmas HIStory – Gifts

This morning Pastor David kicks off our Christmas HIStory series with a look at the traditions of Christmas and how the story of our Savior, Jesus Christ, impacts your story. Today we explore the story of the Magi (also known as the three wise men) that is recorded in Matthew.  What part did they play in the birth of Jesus? Did the gifts they bring have any meaning in the life of Jesus? We will explore the factual story of the Magi story and what part has been changed over time?

1. What part of this story stood out to you the most?
2. Was there any part of Pastor’s sermon that opposed the traditional story you know about the Magi?
3. We see that God had a hidden gift for Jesus hidden in the Magi story. However, this gift was birthed out of the pain of Israels captivity 500 years earlier. Where has there been a place in your life that you found a hidden gift (possibly a providential relationship) during a time of pain?
