Judas
Is there a person in the Bible more infamously known for betrayal than Judas? It is a name synonymous with betrayal and even to this day I seriously doubt you have met too many people named Judas. But what can his life teach us? How can we learn from Jesus how to live with Judas’s in our life? We look at these topics plus many more in this week’s sermon, Easter: A Life and Death Decision, the life of Judas Iscariot.
Matthew 27:1-5
Discussion topics
This week we are providing a lot of questions because the topic that we covered can lead down many roads. Take time to hear from the Holy Spirit and decide what is best for your individual group. Some questions are meant to just have dialogue about the scriptures with personal thoughts. Others are meant for individuals to really take an introspective look into their own lives. We pray your NavGroup discovers what God has for you.
- In your own words, who was Judas Iscariot? What part of his story stands out to you the most? Is there a part of his life that you connect with or are repelled by?
- What lessons can you personally learn from and implement in your life from the times and trials of Judas Iscariot?
- Would you say that Judas was forgiven of his sin? What leads you to conclude that? If Judas was forgiven, what does that mean for us? Is there any sin “too small” or “too big” for God to forgive?
- In John 13 we see the night that Jesus was having a Passover meal with his disciples that begins with a foot washing. We also know that Judas had already decided what he thought in his heart and mind was the best thing to do. And that was betray Jesus. I wonder if during that foot washing Judas wanted to share with Jesus what he had done. Ultimately, we know that Judas did not share this with Jesus which lead to his demise. Is there something in your life that you are keeping from Jesus?
- Not only did we look at how Judas had to live with the revelation of Jesus but we also took time to see how Jesus had to live with his Judas. Is there a Judas in your life? Is there someone that we need to change our view of and adopt a Jesus view, and rather than looking at them as a betrayer look at them as someone preparing us for our destiny?
