Silence and Solitude
A quiet place is a place where you can find silence, both externally and internally, and experience solitude. In this solitude, you connect with God in a powerful way and find a kind of balm for emotional healing. Why is the quiet place is the first thing to go in our busy lives?

Discussion topics
This week’s NavGroup questions will be a little different than normal. We will be using a workbook that corresponds with the book this series is based off of, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer. You can download a free copy of the PDF workbook from this link.
Please take time to read the portion of the workbook we are covering. Do as many exercises as possible that the book suggests. You may not be able to change all the areas we will cover in four weeks but any changes you make will help in your journey towards an unhurried lifestyle.
- Matthew 3 and 4, Mark 1 and Luke 5 are just a few gospel examples of Jesus experiencing and demonstrating the disciplines of Silence and Solitude. Take time to look up one or all of these accounts. Look for truth and insights from the scripture.
- In your own words, explain why Jesus would look to escape from the crowds and fame in order to have these places of solitude. What are the negative consequences of not implementing this practice in your life?
- What is your normal routine to “recharge your battery”? Does it include alone time with God?
