Discussion topics
1. The subject of forgiveness and unforgiveness is a huge subject. Was there something about this week’s topic that stood out to you, made you ask questions, or challenged you in a new way?
2. Read 2 Corinthians 5:17-19 and discuss. What do you think it means that we have the “assignment of reconciliation”
17. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18. All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the assignment of reconciliation: 19. that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
3. Matthew 6:9-13 is the Lord’s Prayer… but verses 14 and 15 go on to say:
14. For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Take time as a group to discuss the ramifications of these two scriptures.
4. Tough question… Who are you holding unforgiveness towards?
