Discussion topics

  1. In John 6 we see where Jesus walked on water to catch up with the disciples who were in the boat. It is clear that the disciples were afraid because they did not recognize him. Was it that they didn’t recognize him or why were they not looking for him? When you have a metaphorical storm hit your life, how do you respond? Do you look for Jesus or accuse Him? When Jesus comes your way, do you recognize his hands in the kindness or care of others?
  2. We see in Matthew and Mark’s account of this story that Jesus “made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side” (Matthew 14:22). One thing we must see is Jesus said they would go to the other side, but never said anything about the boat. Where is there a place in your life where you lost something you were trying to hold onto just to find out it was Christ you needed?
  3. On Sunday, Pastor David said, “Just because a storm is present doesn’t mean that God is absent”. In your life, what opportunities do storms bring in regards to you learning about you? And now learning something about God?
