Moved with Compassion
Jesus was moved with compassion before ministering to the world around him. What did that look like for him? What does it mean for us? And in a world today that seems to lack compassion in so many areas, how does it look for us to be moved with that same compassion that we might love like he did? In today’s message Pastor Aaron guides us on a journey to discover the compassion of Christ.
Mark 1:40-41, Luke 7:13, Matthew 9:36, 14:14, 15:32, 20:34
Discussion topics
- Jesus was moved with compassion and…
- Healed the leper (Mark 1:40-41)
- Raised a widow’s son from the dead (Luke 7:13)
- Helped the harassed and helpless (Matthew 9:36)
- Fed the multitudes (Matthew 14:14, Matthew 15:32)
- Healed the blind (Matthew 20:34)
After Sunday’s message, did one of these identify with you about an area of your life where Christ has shown you compassion?
- Jesus’ compassion came from a solitary place of prayer where he allowed God to give him His perspective and heart. What does your solitary place look like in your own life as you pursue a personal relationship with God? How has that private devotion time helped you with more public struggles where compassion was needed?
- Similar to question 2, when you miss or move away from maintaining your private devotion time, do you find it harder to show compassion? How does facing public struggles become more challenging when relying only on your own strength?
- In your life today what opportunities do you have to be moved with compassion and…
- Embrace the hurting and broken?
- Bring life to dead places and restore hope?
- Help others find their way?
- Meet other’s basic needs?
- Heal broken perspectives?
Take time as a group to pray for these opportunities so that the compassion of Christ would be on display in your own life.
