“Put your money where your mouth is”
“Your mouth is writing checks your body can’t cash”
We have all heard these phrases because they can be true. Both of these phrases have one thing in common, your mouth gets you into trouble. Today’s conversation, the first in a three part series, helps you to know how to say sorry when you find yourself needing to. The first step is to accept blame.Scripture: 2 Samuel 11
Discussion Topics:
- Review 2 Samuel 11 and discuss the story. What part of the story stood out to you, emotionally moved you, or you do not understand?
- 2 Corinthians 7:10 says, “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.” Why do you think this is true? What kind of death could the scripture be talking about?
- Take time to talk through the 4-steps of an apology that Pastor David showed at the end of the sermon. Do you think these steps will work? How are these steps beneficial for you to take?
THE 4-STEP APOLOGY
1. Apologize – Say, “I am sorry.”
2. Cause – For what are you apologizing?
3. Effect – How did your actions impact the other person’s emotions?
4. Outcome – How will you fix it in the future?
4. For you personally, why is it hard to say “I am sorry”?
