1 Peter
Week five of our Survey of the New Testament brings us to 1 Peter, which was a letter written to both Jews and Gentiles living in Asia Minor that were undergoing intense persecution by the Roman Government. This week we will learn that we can have a victorious life in the midst of suffering and persecution.

Discussion topics
- In watching the video about 1 Peter from the Bible Project on YouTube, was there any part of the video that spoke to you or stood out to you? Is there a question about something written in this book that you would like to talk through?
- In 2020 what does actual persecution look like to a Christian living in America? Is persecution only being physically harmed for your faith? Is there any value to someone facing persecution for their faith?
- Are you in the middle of some type of “suffering” in your life? It does not need to be a persecution thing; it can be a mental, physical, spiritual and/or emotional battle that you are facing. Would you be willing to share it with your NavGroup so they can encourage you from a Godly perspective as well as spend time in prayer with you?
- The last question is completely off topic from what the sermon covered and is a very small part of the video that the Bible Project produced. At the beginning of the video we see that Jesus changed Peter’s name to reflect how God viewed him. Is there a name that you keep calling yourself from days gone by… weak, failure, broken… that demands a Godly name change so that you can hear the truth about how God sees you?
