Discussion topics

1. Pastor David explored the history of Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” What did you hear, learn or see in this week’s sermon?

2. In Jeremiah 28 we see a contest between two prophets. One speaking the word of God and one preaching an “easier” message. A message that costs less and demands less of the listener. Two questions… why do we as a people tend to lean towards the easy message versus the harder one? Which way do you lean?

3. This is a spiritual task: Jeremiah was so burdened by the judgment that God’s people were under that he became known as the weeping prophet. Is there any place in your life where you are burdened so much that it brings you to tears? Burdens such as: our nation, our state, unsaved friends, family, your school or work. Take time as a group and pray for your burden or ask God to give you a burden.
