Solomon
Solomon is the man who carries the title, “Wisest Man To Ever Live”. Born around 1010 BCE, Solomon was the tenth son of King David (the second king of ancient united Israel) and the second son of Bathsheba. Like King Saul and King David, King Solomon reigned for 40 years in one of the highest and most prosperous periods in Israel’s history – called by many, “The Golden Age” of Israel. Despite the prosperity of the kingdom and the wealth amassed during his reign, Solomon had a broken home, sons that deplored him and a lineage marred with turmoil. Join us as we learn wisdom from a man who wasn’t always so wise.

Discussion topics
- As you study the life of Solomon, and as you review his successes and failures, what is the positive or negative thing you take away from his life?
- Proverbs 28:13 says, “those who conceal their sins do not prosper, but those who confess and renounce them find mercy”. This is one of many Proverbs that are recorded for us in the Bible. Take time to talk about this single nugget of wisdom and ask questions like – is this accurate, what makes this true, how do I apply it to my life?
- One thing we see clearly in the life of Solomon is that he “conquered” his whole world when it comes to leadership, wealth, wisdom and influence. The one place he failed, and failed in colossal fashion, is being a father and a leader of his house. Is there a place in your life where your relationships or parenting is sacrificed so that you can “get ahead” in this world? What is a healthy balance of conquering your world and leading your household?
