Wonder Woman – The Shunammite Woman

Today’s Wonder Woman is the rich Shunammite Woman who seemingly needed nothing but realistically had an unmet passion. However when God told her through Elisha the prophet she would have a baby within a year, she said ‘No’. What…Why? She had a low adaptability quotient.
Scripture: 2 Kings 4:8-16

Discussion Topics:

1. Read 2 Kings 4:8-16. Discuss what is found in these scriptures and the story being told.
2. In 2 Kings 4:1-7 we read the story of a “poor” woman and later, in 2 Kings 4:8-36, we see that Elisha is now ministering to a “rich” woman. Do you think our culture believes that the poor need God more than the rich? Why or why not? What makes people think the way they do?
3. The Shunammite Woman said “NO” to Elisha saying that she would have a child.  Pastor David explained that she had adapted to the dysfunction of being without a child. Sometimes we adapt our lives to avoid the pain of the unmet need.  Why?
