Pastor David continues our Built to Connect series by taking a look at some dark places in our lives and how God reveals hidden treasures.

Scripture: Isaiah 45:3

Discussion Topics:

  1. Was there any one thing that stood out to you regarding this past Sunday’s service that you would like to discuss with your NavGroup? This could be a point that stood out to you, challenged you, that you disagreed with, or that you need to confess to your group.
  2. Pastor David opened the sermon by giving us a thought for the day, “If you actually want to be different you actually have to change something.”. What keeps you from changing even if the change will result in a positive outcome?
  3. Isaiah 45:3 – “I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.”
What does this verse mean to you? Have you been to a dark place before where God revealed a treasure? What was the dark place and what was the treasure? Are you in a dark place now? Would you be willing to share with your NavGroup?
  4. Group Leader- Try not to have this be a time of self help, but rather strength through the Word, Holy Spirit and/or prayer.
Discuss the three benefits of community:
    1. Strength:
      1. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 – “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
      2. A true friend isn’t just someone who can see through you but also someone who can see you through.
    2. Accountability:
      1. James 5:16 – “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”
      2. Accountability is only as good as your transparency.
    3. Practice:
      1. Proverbs 27:17 – “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”
      2. You are hurt in community and you are healed in community.
