We kick off our series on God and Money this morning with a look at what Jesus says about money. Money is mentioned all throughout the Bible so you will walk away with practical tools to steward your finances well as long as you’re willing to adopt God’s biblical principles.

Scripture: Matthew 25:14-30, 6:21

Discussion Topics:

  1. Jesus talked about money and/or possessions in 16 of his 38 parables. In your opinion, why do you think Jesus would have talked so much about money, the affects of money and the warnings about money?
  2. Read Matthew 25:14-30 and discuss the meaning behind this parable. How do you feel about the way the master treated the three servants? What does this tell you in regards to how God sees money as a test for us?
  3. If you are struggling with debt, what do you think the primary reason is behind your struggle? (Note: Pastor David mentioned three reasons that people go into debt: 1. Image Issue, 2. Immediate Gratification 3. Identity Crisis)
  4. Matthew 6:21 says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” The question is this, what are the three things that matter most to you and is that where you are currently putting your treasure?
