This week we continue our November series, Gratitude: A Matter of Perspective. Today we “Go Hollywood” and discuss how filmmakers set all of a movie’s action inside the frame of the camera. With that concept in mind, we then look at how we frame our world and circumstances, and close with a challenge to Mind Our Frame with gratitude.

Scripture: Psalm 18:1-6;16-21

Discussion Topics:

  1. Dallas discussed the two elements needed to properly frame our world: knowing Who God is, and What God has done for us. Talk about the first one for a few minutes. Psalm 18:1 gave us a few of the Lord’s attributes (ie: strength, our rock, our fortress, etc.), but what are some other attributes the Bible mentions of who God is? Make a list as a group and then spend a few minutes together praying and declaring His attributes out loud.
  2. The second element to framing our world is what God has done for you (or others). Discuss some of the amazing things God did for you or others you know. No negative talk allowed. Discuss the amazing grace and the miracles He has given us, both large and small. Spend a few moments in prayer and thanking God together and praising Him for all of those amazing things.
  3. Take a moment to consider your frame. Dallas mentioned a few frames (political, economic, racial, religious, tradition, victim-hood, etc.). Our frames determines how we view every circumstance in life. What are some other frames that you have used in the past to look at circumstances? Considering questions (1) and (2) above, how can you Mind Your Frame and re-frame your point-of-view when similar circumstances arise the next time?
