Fear

We’re diving into a big topic this week — the topic of FEAR — as we continue in our series, I Want To Quit. What is Fear? Faith is typically juxtaposed to Fear, but are these two forces truly opposites of each other? We’ll also look at how Fear affects not only our present life but also our potential future? Ultimately, this sermon will bring us face-to-face with some of our thoughts (and Fears) about the things in our life that matter most: our families, health, financial peace, our culture, and ultimately…our future. But, we will also be encouraged how to quit Fear and live in the hope and love that Jesus wants us to live in.

Hebrews 11:1

Discussion topics

1. When you think about your life (and the list below) where do you experience the most peace and hope and F.A.I.T.H. about the future?
– Spouse?
– Children?
– Love?
– Health?
– Money?
– Job?
– Failure?
– Abandonment?
– School System?
– Future?
– Death
– Our culture?

2. Now, consider the opposite: when you think about your life (and the list below) where do you experience the most FEAR?
– Spouse?
– Children?
– Love?
– Health?
– Money?
– Job?
– Failure?
– Abandonment?
– School System?
– Future?
– Death
– Our culture?

3. During the sermon, there were 5 steps of moving potential futures from Thought to Reality in your life:
– Visualize it (think it/picture it)

– Emotionalize it (feel it)

– Vocalize (speak it)

– Internalize it (believe it)

– Actualize it (build it)

When you consider one of the items in the Fear list (from Question 2 above), which one item do you plan to intentionally work on in the next few weeks to visualize, emotionalize, and internalize a new potential future that you can begin to actualize in your life now?
