This morning, Dallas Amsden walks us through Proverbs 2. Along with topics such as asking for wisdom and the difference between knowledge and wisdom, today we will ask some deeper questions such as: what are three things that Proverbs 2 guarantees us when we have wisdom? What are the patterns we see in the lives and behaviors of the foolish, and how can we avoid those patterns ourselves? And finally, what are some practical action items that we can take to gain wisdom in every area of our lives? The answers may surprise you as we explore Proverbs 2 together.

Scripture: Proverbs 2; James 1:5-6

Discussion Topics:

  1. Think back to the story of the village praying for rain and the little girl with the umbrella: in what area of your life are you not showing up with faith and expectation?
  2. Discuss some examples (perhaps even from personal experience) where “knowledge” was used but not necessarily “wisdom.” What would have been a wise choice in those situations?
  3. What is one area of your life where you need to ask God for wisdom?
James 1:5-6: If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt . . .
