Isaiah

Isaiah, one of the major prophets of the Old Testament, is known as the Messianic Prophet.  Isaiah’s prophecies are the most quoted by the New Testament authors, including Jesus himself.  This week we see how a warning prophecy out of Isaiah 1 still rings true today and with God’s grace maybe we God’s people would hear and respond.

Isaiah 1:11-15

Discussion topics

  1. When you heard Sunday’s sermon, when you saw the state of the church in America, what stood out most to you and what can you personally do to go against the tide?
  2. One statistic that Pastor David shared on Sunday was about the current prayer lives of Christian’s. Prayer – Only 63% of Christians say prayer is essential. That sounds good, right? But the corollary means that 37% of Christians don’t think prayer is essential. Honestly, where is your prayer life?  Can you as a group stop now and pray, out loud, for a Holy Spirit conviction to come and help with your prayer life?
  3. In Isaiah 1 he tells the people that God doesn’t separate the worshiper from the worship. God sees how we act day to day versus the way we look when we come to church. Tough question here…. Would the people in your life outside of Sunday morning and small group time be surprised by the life you live when we are together as a church?
