Last week we found out that there are two sides to mercy. On the one hand mercy is when you hold back what someone deserves (the forgiving side), and on the other hand mercy is when you give to someone what they have not earned or deserve (the compassionate side). This week we are going to dig deeper into the forgiving side of mercy as we study the Unforgiving Servant parable out of Luke 18.

Scripture: Luke 18

Discussion Topics:

  1. Is it difficult for you to believe that God has completely forgiven you and doesn’t hold your past against you?
  2. How can unforgiveness toward others affect your relationship with God?
  3. Forgiveness is not about fairness. Forgiveness is about grace. How do you respond to that?
  4. Have you been forgiven by someone who chose grace over getting even? How did their gift of forgiveness affect your relationship with them?
