At The Movies is one of our most popular and most fun series of the year. Movies have a way of communicating unlike any other art form. Whether filmmakers know it or not, God’s fingerprints can be found all over their written stories. In them we find powerful stories of the human experience—experiences marked with an intersection with the divine. During the next three weeks we will take some of the most popular films from this last year and discover God in them…At the Movies.

Scripture: Psalm 118:24

Discussion Topics:

  1. In your own words, what does a healthy tension between work life and family life look like? Do you feel as if you ever end up making a living at the expense of making a life?
  2. Psalm 118:24, “This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Take time to talk about this scripture and discuss how it plays out in everyday life. Also, how would James 4:14 connect with Psalms 118? “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”
  3. In the movie Christopher Robin, Christopher had a briefcase full of very important things. What would be in your briefcase? What are some things you should add or take out?
