We are well into our summer teaching series, Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit.  Today’s focus is gentleness.  Do you conscientiously strive to have gentleness be a fruit in your life?  Where are the places you need to add gentleness as you interact with the world around you? Scripture: Galatians 5:22-26

Discussion Topics:

  1. When you hear the word “gentleness”, what is the definition you think of or the picture you see? The biblical definition we find in Galatians 5 is “being comfortable in uncomfortable situations”. How does your definition and the biblical definition compare?
  2. This past Sunday we discussed how gentleness defuses conflicts (Proverbs 15:1) and one of the key tools to this is by choosing to respond with the opposite emotion. For example, if someone is upset you should be peaceful, if they are flustered you should remain focused. Do you think this would work in your life, and if so, why is it so hard to respond properly in the moment?
  3. Pastor made the statement that “Gentleness is a witness to unbelievers”. Why do you think that is true?
