Survey of the New Testament

James

James is the book of the week as we enter our fourth conversation during our Survey of the New Testament. James, who was the half brother of Jesus, did not initially accept Jesus as the Messiah but later becomes a main pillar in the early church. This book reads much like the book of Proverbs and will be focused on godly character and our need to obey God’s Word.

Discussion topics

  1. How many times is the word perfect used in the Book of James and what does perfect mean?
  2. Trials reveal the level of perfection or integration within the believer. Patience is the ability to remain under the trial without losing integration by cracking, crumbling, or quitting. Discuss that concept.
  3. How does looking into the mirror of God’s Word cause the believer to not only hear but also to do (or to live out) being a new creation in Christ?
