Survey of the New Testament

Jude

In our eighth and final week of the Survey of the New Testament we are diving into the book of Jude. Jude is written for two main reasons: he wanted to point out and expose the false teachers that had infiltrated the Christian community, and he wanted to encourage those same Christians to stand strong in their faith and for their beliefs. This week let your faith be strengthened knowing that there are those who have tried to stop and destroy Christianity for thousands of years only to see the faith thrive and grow.

Book Chapter: Jude

Discussion topics

  1. This week in the book of Jude we see references to deliverance of people out of Egypt (vs5), Sodom and Gomorrah (vs7), Cain, Balaam and Korah (vs11). Is there any of these “old” Bible stories that you do not know about and if so, do a discussion and/or Bible study on them so you can know the references more intensely.
  2. Read Jude verse 3 and discuss. What does it mean to “contend for the faith” in 2020?
  3. The way of Cain is a religion that is empty and full of unbelief. The way of Balaam is selling out conviction for personal gain. The way of Balaam is not finding contentment in the calling. Discuss these and how each of them could affect your life in a negative way.
