Stopping Jesus
Mike Tyson famously said, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth”. Have you ever metaphorically got punched in the month by adversity? Have you ever had haters in your life that tried to hold you back? This week we take a look at how Bartimaeus dealt with adversity and the haters, gaining wisdom from his life lessons.
Mark 10:46-52
Discussion topics
1. When he (Bartimaeus) heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he (Bartimaeus) began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”. Bartimaeus didn’t call Jesus the son of Mary or Joseph. He didn’t refer to the town he grew up in or the occupation that he had. Bartimaeus approached Jesus as the Son of God. How do you approach Jesus?
2. Do you only call on Jesus when you need help or does he have full control of your life? What’s the first step that you can take to give him more access to you?
3. What might God be trying to develop in you through the current adversity you are facing?
4. Do you have a vision for your life or are you blind to what the future has for you? Ask God to reveal to you where he wants to take you.
