Throw Off Your Coat

Do you know that you carry around your belief systems (your mode of operation) like a coat?  You do. It’s there to keep you safe and warm.  But what if the very thing you think is your security is the very thing keeping you from safety?  This week we look at Bartimaeus and why it was important that he throw off his cloak when Jesus called to him and that we should do the same.

Discussion topics

1. Do you believe that God’s affection is enough for you?  Do you think that when you cry out God stops in his tracks to hear you?

2. Have you become comfortable with things that are dysfunctional in your life?  What area(s) do you need to throw off?

3. We must leave behind the old before we step into the new because miracles don’t happen within the confines of comfort zones.  What does this phrase say to you?

4. What does Matthew 20:34 (TCT version) say to you?  “Deeply moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes. They had their sight back that very instant, and joined the procession”.
