Joseph

While Joseph’s story is one of the most well known stories in the Bible — the dreamer with the multi-colored coat who was sold into slavery by his brothers who eventually became second-in-command over all of Egypt during a great famine — in this sermon, we examine the key relational collisions Joseph experienced.

Genesis 37-50

Discussion topics

  1. What key relationship collision resonated the most with you and your story during this sermon: betrayal by his brothers, false accusation and gossip by Potiphar’s wife, feeling used and forgotten like the cupbearer? Or other?
  2. Apart from the few relational collisions discussed during the sermon, are there other collisions/hurts you’ve experienced that you can name and discuss with the group?
  3. Thinking of Joseph’s reconciliation with his brothers, is there someone in your life — and you don’t have to “name them” out loud to the group — but, is there someone you need to release and forgive from the collision and hurt they caused you?
  4. Take the reverse now: is there someone with whom you need to perhaps consider reaching out to because of the relational collision and hurt that you may have caused them?
